Prep4Parenthood Workshops

Finding our way as parents and understanding our baby

Becoming a parent is a magical and deeply challenging experience. Often, we are faced with an identity change we hadn’t expected, and have to navigate this development while also growing and supporting our baby and their needs.

Parenting also frequently brings with it reminders of the way we were parented, and our own early experiences. This can be both a joyful and painful emotional landscape to bear with.

In addition, it can be tricky to be faced with the big feelings and needs of our babies which aren’t always easy to understand or to survive.

This set of four workshops that span the antenatal and early postnatal period will support you and your partner to navigate the challenges that early parenthood can bring.

Session 1 looks at each of our own experiences of being parented, what ways of relating to ourselves and others we might have developed, and where we might find vulnerabilities activated in our parenting journeys

Session 2 explores our partner relationships, what change to expect with our role change to parents, and considers communication skills

Session 3 thinks about our baby, and what they might need in order to thrive. We explore child development in brief, and consider support for baby’s emotional development

Session 4 is our post birth session and takes place approximately 6 weeks after baby arrives. In this session, we think about the transition so far, myth bust and normalise, and offer opportunities to consider  your needs as a family in this time
